The Community Waterfront Campus & Sailing Education Center
For more than 22 years, the Community Sailing Center has operated from the abandoned Moran Plant, a Department of Public Works garage, and tent. Despite our modest quarters, the CSC has provided award-winning programs for thousands of adults and children every year and serves as the only organization in Burlington that provides direct access to Lake Champlain. The Waterfront Center will allow us to expand program offerings to a greater population, and continue our mission to provide Lake Access. Life Lessons. For All.
Powered by the Love Your Lake Campaign, the Community Waterfront Campus & Sailing Education Center is designed to ensure public access to Lake Champlain, programs for experiential learning, and recreational opportunities for generations to come.
As a cornerstone of the city’s newly envisioned waterfront, this project is designed by renowned architect and CSC Founder, Marcel Beaudin. It will operate as the new home of the Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center, serving over 6,000 people each year and providing programming in partnership with dozens of local community organizations, schools, and businesses.
The 22,180-square-foot lakeside hub will include:
- classroom space for year-round learning
- new boats & docks
- restroom facilities
- indoor storage
- locker rooms
- staff offices
- maintenance facilities

The Community Sailing Center is thrilled to be part of the first significant public access investment in the Burlington Waterfront since the Boathouse and Waterfront Park and Promenade in the early 90s. Waterfront Access North will literally pave the way for the Community Waterfront Campus and Sailing Education Center. Check out more about Waterfront Access North by clicking here.
